The Mukwonago District, located approximately 25 miles southwest of Milwaukee, is seeking a knowledgeable and dynamic special education teacher for our Aspire program (ages 18-21) beginning in August 2025. This is a temporary position, lasting until approximately November 1, 2025 and this position will be hired through Teachers on Call.
Applicants should have experience working with students with diverse needs ranging in all ability levels. 
This position will work with a dedicated group of staff members to work collaboratively within the department and other professional learning communities to improve student learning.
Experience is preferred but not required.
Candidates must possess or be eligible for a WI DPI Cross Categorical Special Education License (1801).

Job Description:

Mukwonago High School's ASPIRE PROGRAM is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and student-centered Cross Categorical Special Education Teacher to join our middle school team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who have a range of disabilities, with a strong preference for those with a background in supporting students with intellectual disabilities.

This position involves collaboration with general education teachers, specialists, and families to ensure students receive individualized support and access to meaningful instruction aligned with their IEP goals and the general education curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide specialized instruction to students with varying disabilities in inclusive and resource settings
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Adapt and modify curriculum to meet diverse learning needs
- Use data-driven instructional strategies to track and report student progress
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
- Maintain compliance with state and federal special education regulations
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development

Preferred Qualifications:

- Valid WI teaching license in Special Education (Cross Categorical or equivalent)
- Experience working with middle school-aged students
- Strong understanding of best practices in teaching students with intellectual disabilities
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Experience with assistive technology and differentiated instruction is a plus
