Part Time
Primary Purpose:  
The Student Connections support program is a proactive approach to addressing the social and emotional well-being of students and will positively contribute to the overall learning environment of the school.  The purpose of the Student Connections program is to promote positive, interpersonal, social, emotional, and academic growth in students by giving them the opportunity to acquire developmentally appropriate coping skills and problem-solving techniques. The Student Connections Program Coordinator oversees the Student Connections Program. 
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
 
Curriculum/Instruction
  • Select and develop curriculum to be used by group facilitators.
  • Research curriculums that incorporate best practice and are research/evidenced based.
  • Ensure all SEL facilitators are appropriately qualified, trained, have completed all required new hire/onboarding requirements, and are aware of the key concepts they will be teaching students and that they follow those concepts.
  • Ensure all SEL facilitators have good classroom management and group facilitation skills.  
Planning
  • Use data to establish types of support groups to be offered to students.
  • Develop support group descriptions to be provided to facilitators.
  • Secure group facilitators from district and outside sources to facilitate groups in their area of expertise.
  • Create and implement student surveys to be used for recruitment for groups.
  • Recruit staff and community members to facilitate SEL groups.
  • Arrange for subs for teachers who serve as group facilitators.
  • Arrange for rooms as building space as needed for group meetings.
 
Communication
  • Communicate with building administrators, school counselors, and teachers to determine what barriers to learning/social-emotional growth they are observing with students.
  • Communicate with community service providers to determine trends in student experiences and plan and implement appropriate support groups to help meet student needs and behaviors.
  • Communicate with CCLC Director and other CCLC team members regularly to maintain the integrity of the program.
