The School District of Onalaska is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Cross Categorical Teacher at Onalaska High School beginning the 2025-26 school year.

Position Summary:
To provide special education services to students identified with disabilities, case management and implementation of IEPs, and meet individual needs of identified students.

Qualifications:
1. Possess a valid Teaching License in the assigned area of teaching
2. Possess a minimum of a B.S./B.A. degree with a major in the assigned area of teaching
3. Prior teaching experience preferred but not required
4. First Aid/CPR training/CPI Training

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as case manager for identified students with disabilities.
Implementation of Individual Educational Plans for identified students.
Select, administer, and score individual assessments according to standardized procedures for identification and program planning purposes.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to provide individualized, small group and/or team taught instruction.
Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time or instruction.
Create an effective environment for learning.
Provide consultation to teachers and serve as a resource to parents/staff.
Administer group standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs. Coordinate and provide necessary accommodations for required district and state assessments.
Develop and implement modifications of the classroom environment and curriculum as needed.
Maintain confidentiality related to student information.
Evaluate student's academic growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports as necessary.
Communicate with parents and staff through conferences and other means to discuss student progress.
Maintain ongoing collaborative relationships with building special education teachers, related service providers, school counselors, social workers, school psychologists and other teaching staff
Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping solve academic, behavioral and/or health problems.
Serve as a team member on evaluations/IEP teams for special education referrals.
Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and by self-selected professional growth activities.
Maintain all required records and submit reports to the Director of Student Services
Select and requisition instructional materials and supplies in accordance with district budget process.
Supervise students in out of classroom activities during the assigned working day.
Participate in program improvement and curriculum development programs as required.
Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
Engage in nonviolent crisis intervention training when needed.
Participate cooperatively with the administrators when being evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.
Complete other duties that may be assigned by supervisor.
