Position Details
Westosha Central High School is looking for a dynamic, team-oriented, and student-centered school counselor. The selected candidate will be innovative, build strong relationships with colleagues, and demonstrate a passion for supporting all students. Candidates of all backgrounds and experiences are encouraged to apply.
Westosha Central High School has seen a steady increase in student enrollment over the past four years and enrollment should be stable or see a slight increase in years to come. The district recently completed construction on a forty-million-dollar referendum which included a brand new Student Services suite. The referendum, supported by our community, has provided our students and staff with a state-of-the-art facility.
This counselor position serves Grades 9-12.
Candidates should have the knowledge, experience, and comfort level to lead the following:

Ability to form trusting and positive relationships with students
-
Provide support to students, staff, and parents that positively impacts the social-emotional needs of students
-
Develop and implement programs and services intended to build a healthy school climate
-
Develop and implement activities to support the transition of students and families new to the building
-
Counsel students through the development of educational and career plans that ensure college and career readiness
-
Respond to crisis situations when appropriate
-
Collaborate effectively with the student service department, teachers, and administrators to support students and families
-
Knowledge and experience to support students with varying needs (mental health, behavioral, AODA, etc.)

Support at-risk youth
-
Academic and Career Planning for all students

Experience with student scheduling

Experience in character development
-
Knowledge and experience to facilitate small group/individual counseling

Working knowledge of research-based and evidence-based practices regarding social-emotional learning, AODA, trauma-informed care, prevention/intervention activities, community resources

Perform other duties as may be assigned

Desired Licensing and Qualifications:

Hold and maintain appropriate Wisconsin School Counselor license as defined by Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Experience in the high school setting is preferred.
