SUMMARY
Under the direction of the principal, the Library Aide assist in the general operations of the building in a variety of capacities. The duties typically fall into three categories: supervising students, assisting with clerical duties and providing library/media assistance. Some aide positions may focus on one or two of these areas, but all assignments are at the discretion of the principal according to the needs of the students and staff. Duties can be modified at any time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Responsible for typing, copying and collating materials as requested by staff
Manage print and digital collections in the Elementary Learning Commons
Lead/teach classes in library
Must love books and reading to children
Organized, independent, self-starter
Must be comfortable working with/supervising larger groups of children
Recess and/or lunch supervision of up to 1 hour a day
Help our school interact with library/media in a modern manner
Provides supervision of students in hallways, lunchroom/cafeteria, library, on the playground,
Assists teachers and students with media services.
Processes books, AV and other media materials.
Compiles and maintains records relating to the automated system, including overdue/lost books, student fines, reminder notes to teachers/students, booklist reports for teachers, and backup operations.
Prepares letters, memos, bulletins, reports, etc., as directed, within mandated timelines.
Assumes responsibility for the Library/Media Center in the absence of the Library/Media Specialist.
Operates equipment including but not limited to copiers, personal computers, AV equipment and cameras.
Assists with minor repair and maintenance of media materials and equipment.
Assists with scheduling use of AV equipment.
Records programs for teacher’s use.
Assists with recording and transferring programs using recordable DVDs or other electronic and/or digital devices/software.
Serves as a role model for students by conducting self as a responsible, intelligent citizen.
Demonstrates a commitment to ethical principles and democratic values in the workplace.
