Objectives of this Role

The School District of Athens is seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance and Operations Supervisor to lead the maintenance, safety, and efficient operation of all district buildings, ground and systems.

This leadership role is essential to ensuring that our facilities remain safe, functional, and supportive of a positive learning environment.

Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive long-range facilities plan to support the future needs of the school district.
Job Responsibilities

Maintain a safe and compliant environment, including addressing safety concerns, and ensuring compliance with building codes and safety regulations.

Implementing energy-saving measures and promoting sustainability initiatives within the district.

Manage and coordinate all aspects of facility maintenance, including inspections, repairs, inventory, and preventative measures.

Enforce safety policies aligned with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA)

Perform custodial duties as needed (general building cleaning)

Perform building maintenance as required

Supervise, evaluate and train custodial, maintenance, and groundskeeping personnel.

General oversight of camera and security systems.

Develop and manage the facilities budget, including vendor contracts and expenses.

Communicate and collaborate with administrators, staff, other departments and contractors.

Participate in team processes for continuous improvement.

Lead Facilities and Operations Advisory Team meetings, and attend school board meetings.

Support and follow School Board policies, guidelines and procedures.

Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Preferred Qualifications

Required high school diploma or GED. Recommended associate or bachelor's degree.

Professional Certifications (e.g. CMRP or HVAC certified) are preferred
-
Experience in maintenance, facilities management, or a related field preferred.

Knowledge of basic custodial equipment and supplies.
-
Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skills.

Proven ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with keen attention to detail.

Superior leadership and interpersonal skills, with a focus on employee and team development.

Effective and efficient computer capabilities.
-
Understanding of budgeting and performance management.

Physical ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.

Valid driver’s license required.

Demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality.

Value relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
