Job Position Statement
The School District of Athens is in search of a highly skilled and professional educator to join our team. Objectives of this Role

The EL Teacher provides English language development instruction to students who are acquiring English as an additional language, and works collaboratively with other instructional staff to meet the individual needs of each student.

The EL Teacher facilitates a productive learning environment, nurturing the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students.

The EL Teacher strives to improve student engagement, and learner outcomes.

The EL Teacher will be an advocate for students and families within their individual classrooms, the school, and community.
Job Responsibilities

Create a learning environment that reflects and promotes the mission of the School District of Athens
-
Provides explicit instruction aligned with academic standards
-
Evaluates the language needs of students, administers required language proficiency and academic achievement tests

Ability to use ACCESS assessment data in planning instructional model
-
Utilizes language teaching strategies to increase English proficiency for students, serves as a resource to classroom teachers to help EL students achieve academic success

Communicate EL plans of service with grade level teachers and specialists to develop a positive learning environment for all students

Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, administrators, and parents
-
Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction

Provide professional development as deemed appropriate for colleagues to understand EL learner academic needs
-
Support and follow School Board policies and procedures

Other duties as assigned
Skills and Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor degree in applicable discipline

Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Teaching License ESL #395/1395

Demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality

Flexible, creative, organized, have a sense of humor, and model a positive growth mindset

Value relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members
