Job Position Statement

The School District of Athens is in search of a highly skilled and professional educator to join our team.  An ideal candidate would be a proactive problem solver with outstanding communication skills, and contribute to the efficiency of the school district.  This individual would be motivated, and thrive on creating a climate of inclusion, trust, and productivity which represent the school district values. 


Objectives of this Role

  • Utilize the eight Standards for Mathematical Practice as an instructional guideline that defines how students should engage with mathematics in the classroom.

  • Help students develop a strong foundation in mathematics, including essential concepts like algebra, geometry, and basic arithmetic, while also preparing them for higher-level math in high school. Beyond foundational skills, teachers also aim to foster critical thinking and problem-solving abilities through real-world applications of math. 


Job Responsibilities

  • Create a learning environment that reflects and promotes the mission of the School District of Athens

  • Provide explicit mathematical instruction aligned with academic standards

  • Demonstrate solid knowledge and understanding of math concepts using a multitude of instructional strategies that are academically rigorous and highly engaging

  • Align planning to state standards and student assessment data, assume responsibility for student progress; responding to individual students’ needs

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents

  • Collaborate with peers, and respond to individual student needs

  • Demonstrate ability to differentiate instruction

  • Support and follow School Board policies and procedures

  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in applicable discipline

  • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Teaching License Math #400, #1400

  • Demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality

  • Flexible, creative, organized, have a sense of humor, and model a positive growth mindset

  • Value relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members
