Farmington Elementary School is looking for a skilled and highly motivated school counselor with strong leadership and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be eager to join an elementary team that is committed to fostering a welcoming and student-centered school culture. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work successfully and positively with parents, staff, and students in a school environment. Knowledge and experience in RtI, and having a deep understanding of child development and restorative practices, are essential.

The primary responsibilities will be to:
  • meet with new students and orient them to school procedures and learning opportunities.
  • act as case manager of 504 plans, assist teams as they develop and implement IEPs
  • demonstrate and foster positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community partners to support student well-being and promote connection with the counselor when extra assistance is needed
  • assist students in the areas of career readiness, academic skills and social-emotional learning (ASCA and WSCA standards)
  • consult and collaborate with colleagues regarding SEL objectives
  • develop positive relationships with all students within the school
  • provide professional assistance and support to individual students or small groups of students during times of transition, heightened stress, critical change or other situations impeding student success.
  • communicate and work cooperatively with administrators, teachers and students to promote a positive learning environment.
  • regularly communicate with parents and/or guardians regarding their childs' educational program and process.
  • respond with care and clarity during times of student crisis or need.
  • provide small group and full-class instruction with the utilization of the school counseling curriculum (ASCA Mindset and Behaviors for Student Success)
  • assist in connecting students in the district and their families to outside resources
