Long-Term Theatre Sub

September 2 - October 31, 2025

Position:  Theatre Teacher and Director of the Fall Play

Long-Term substitute with the ability to direct two plays at the same time while possibly teaching other theatre classes.  Teaching and directing the One Act Competition class during the school day, which is entered into the Wisconsin High School Theatre Competition in October and November.  Other such duties might include teaching a beginning-level acting class or supervising a study hall during the school day.  After-school duties include directing and putting together the fall play which will be performed the weekend of Oct 24-26.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach curriculum for High School Theater classes

  • Direct one mainstage production in the fall. 

  • Conduct theatrical rehearsals after school as required and maintain rehearsal/performance logs.

  • Teach and Direct the One Act Competition Class who’s play will be submitted to the Wisconsin High School Theatre Festival

  • Collaborate with the technical director, Stage Crew Supervisor, and other creative artists to realize the vision of each production

  • Advise the Student Drama Club and their activities

Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching High School theater/ Directing plays

  • Theatre Arts Teaching Licence

  • Approaches work with children with joy, optimism, energy, kindness, and a sense of humor

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to work across departments and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administration

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


The Mequon-Thiensville School District is looking for a long term Theatre teacher for Homestead High School starting approximately September 2, 2025 through approximately October 31, 2025. Applicants must be certified by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction with high school Theatre licensing.
