DeForest Area School District is located just ten miles northeast of Madison in Dane County. We offer outstanding facilities and competitive salary and benefits.
This position will plan, organize and supervise custodial activities for the DeForest Area School District which includes six school buildings. The supervisor will manage a staff that covers both day and evening shifts, as well as weekend activities. This position must work across multiple shifts in order to supervise staff and provide feedback.
Please note: First round interviews will be on May 1st and the second round interviews will be on May 7th.
Duties include:
Plans, organizes, assigns and directs the work of custodial staff, maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. Ensures consistent application of policies, procedures, and guidelines. Trains staff on new procedures.
Leads weekly head custodian meetings.
Approves timesheets, time off requests and overtime.
Responsible for hiring and scheduling the custodial staff.
Conducts performance evaluations for all custodial staff.
Serves as a contact at night for all buildings regarding any building questions or issues.
Travels to all district buildings to conduct inspections or to assist with problems or projects.
Assists Director of Safety & Operations in planning and implementing custodial functions. Develops and implements custodial procedures.
Plans and supervises summer cleaning and routine maintenance projects.
Attends and participates in department meetings.
Develops and updates district wide inventory of custodial materials and supplies
Responds to building emergencies.
Maintains effective working relationships with principals, teachers, students and visitors.
Helps to maintain a safe environment by following safety protocols.
Other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent, 3 to 4 years progressively responsible custodial and building/grounds maintenance experience including previous supervisory experience with multiple positions/employees. with additional experience in automated building security and energy management systems, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
A valid Wisconsin motor vehicle operator’s license required.
