Hartford Union High School Athletic Department is seeking multiple dedicated and dynamic Summer School Strength and Speed Coaches to join our athletic program and inspire young athletes to achieve their full potential. This role is pivotal in creating a positive environment where student athletes can develop their physical abilities, enhance their strength, and improve their speed through tailored training programs. The coach will collaborate closely with HUHS coaches and educators to seamlessly integrate strength and conditioning. They will be responsible for developing age-appropriate training regimens, monitoring students' progress, and providing essential feedback. Emphasis will be placed on safety, proper technique, and motivation to help students build confidence and skill in their chosen sports disciplines.  The position reports to the Athletic and Activities Director. The position will work 7:30 to noon Monday through Thursday during the summer.  The candidates must be a Certified Weightlifting Instructor and/or Certified Sports Fitness Instructor with 3 or more years of instruction.
 

Responsibilities

  • Work with HUHS Coaching Staff to develop and implement strength and speed training programs tailored for athletes.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate the athletic performance of students and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide instruction on proper techniques for strength training exercises.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive training environment that fosters teamwork and personal growth.

 

Requirements

  • Experience in coaching or training athletes, preferably at the middle or high school level.
  • Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles, especially for youth athletes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with students of various skill levels.
  • Current First Aid, AED and CPR certification.
  • A passion for mentoring young athletes and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
