The MADA School Secretary plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Merrill Adult Diploma Academy (MADA), an alternative education charter school within the Merrill Area Public Schools. MADA serves students who did not find success in traditional settings, offering personalized pathways to a high school diploma in a small, supportive environment. In partnership with NorthCentral Technical College, MADA provides tailored instruction to meet the specific needs and goals of each student. The MADA School Secretary ensures a welcoming and organized atmosphere for students, staff, and families, contributing to the success of the school’s mission.
Essential Job Functions:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for students, families, and staff, providing timely and professional communication.
- Coordinate student schedules, ensuring accurate records and smooth transitions.
- Work closely with the lead teacher to support daily operations and student success.
- Assist in planning and coordinating school events, student celebrations, and academic programs.
- Perform a variety of clerical duties to support the daily operations of MADA.
- Assist with new student intake
- Assist in record-keeping and compliance with district and state reporting requirements.
- Support testing administration by organizing materials and maintaining secure test protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information in compliance with district policies and FERPA regulations.
- Coordination of MADA Board Meetings
- Other duties as assigned
Essential Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods, up to six hours in an eight-hour day
- Ability to perform light physical work, frequently lifting up to ten pounds without assistance in an indoor setting
- Ability to reach in all directions and bend/stoop to store and retrieve files
- Ability to move throughout the building
- Dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment such as fax machine, copier, etc.
- Hearing ability adequate to participate in numerous conversations throughout the day, both in person and over the telephone
- Ability to complete job activities in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norm
- Ability to maintain concentration and focus on tasks requiring timeliness and accuracy
Highly qualified candidates will have the following experiences and skills:
- High School Diploma or GED, Associate's Degree preferred.
- Previous clerical experience.
- Experience with technology, office software, Google, Microsoft products, etc.
- Skyward experience preferred.
