Position Details
Oconto Unified School District is seeking a passionate and talented Choir Teacher to lead our middle school and high school choral programs to begin with the 2025-26 school year. The ideal candidate will inspire students and foster a love for music. This position includes directing multiple choirs, planning performances, and collaborating with the Band Director to enhance students' musical education.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and develop middle school and high school choir programs
- Plan and lead rehearsals, concerts, and community performances
- Select diverse and appropriate choral repertoire
- Teach vocal techniques, music theory, and sight-reading skills
- Prepare students for regional and state solo and ensemble
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, and the community
- Manage program budget, equipment, and fundraising efforts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Choral Conducting, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Valid teaching certification (or ability to obtain certification)
- Experience directing choirs at the middle or high school level is preferred
- Strong piano skills and ability to accompany rehearsals (preferred)
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Passion for fostering musical growth and student engagement
