The Mequon-Thiensville School District is seeking an exceptional individual to assume the position of Recreation Director. The Recreation Director is directly responsible for the overall operation, administration, budget, office staff and marketing of the recreation office. The Mequon-Thiensville School District is a PK-12 district located along the coast of Lake Michigan in a northern suburb of Milwaukee that serves more than 3,500 students. Required Education and Experience:

●       Bachelors Degree in Recreation Management, related field or equivalent work experience

●       Three to five years of experience working within a community or school based recreation department in a supervisory or administrative role.

●       Familiarity with Microsoft Office

●       Comfortable with and interested in using various computer software

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

●       Certified Park and Recreation Professional - CPRP

●       Experience with RecTrac and Rschool software

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

●       Demonstrates leadership in development, coordination, and implementation of programs for all ages

●       Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to work well with others

●       Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks

●       Dependable and conscientious with strong work ethic

●       Ability to interact positively with staff and general public

●       Skilled at performing multiple tasks simultaneously

 

Physical requirements:

●       Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

●       Exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular basis

●       Moderate dexterity in operating machinery, tools or office equipment

●       Normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities

 

Reports to:

●       Executive Director of Business Services

 

Essential Functions:

●       Leads and administers all phases of a school district recreation department

●       Manage the day-to-day operations of the recreation office - Work closely with the Admin Asst on office duties

●       Provide leadership to the recreation department’s public relations needs including the creation of seasonal brochures and monthly department electronic newsletter

●       Recruit, assign, supervise, and evaluate all office employees.

●       Serve as the department’s expert in RecTrack software package and main contact with VSI, RecTrac, and PayTrac

●       Perform daily CC reports from PayTrac and weekly money deposits to District office

●       Attend monthly Area Council Meetings

●       Serve as the head of the Rec Advisory Committee and set schedule and agendas

●       Manage department budget and payroll process for employees, signing of timesheets

 

●       Oversee the Summer Academy Program and work closely with the Summer Academy Coordinator

●       Oversee the department financial assistance program for customers

●       Invoice companies for Ads, coop departments for coop programs

●       Maintains financial records of recreation programs in the areas of revenue, payroll, and accounts payable and receivables.

●       Initiates the processing of purchase orders and check requests for recreation expenditures.

●       Creates various reports such as end of season reports, rent reports, participation comparisons, program cost analysis, etc.

●       Create Annual survey to Community for feedback on programs

●       Come up with creative ways to increase revenue stream - Brochure ads, sponsorships, work with the City to utilize the parks for programs, etc

●       Lead contact for possible outdoor Pickleball courts at Range Line

●       Attend monthly meetings with Executive Director of Business Services as well as monthly Administrative meetings

●       Assists the Executive Director of Business Services in creating policies and practices for the department

●       Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Business Services
