The Unified School District of Antigo is Hiring a High School Special Education Teacher (Intellectual Disabilities) for the 2025-26 School Year

Position Overview:
We are seeking a high school special education teacher with a focus on working with students with intellectual disabilities (ID). The ideal candidate will be passionate about individualized instruction, life skills development, and fostering independence for students with diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that support academic, social, and life skills development.
- Provide structured and differentiated instruction tailored to students with intellectual disabilities.
- Implement evidence-based strategies to enhance communication, functional academics, and independent living skills.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, and families to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Utilize assistive technology and adaptive materials to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Foster a positive, structured, and nurturing classroom that promotes student growth and confidence.
- Work within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to share best practices and support student success.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, interventions, and compliance with special education regulations.
- Participate in professional development and district-wide initiatives to continuously improve instructional practices.
Qualifications:
- Valid Wisconsin DPI Certification in Special Education.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Experience working with students with intellectual disabilities (ID) and implementing individualized instructional strategies.
- Strong understanding of IEP development, transition planning, and functional skill-building.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
- Familiarity with assistive technology, augmentative communication devices, and adaptive instructional methods preferred.
