JOB TITLE:                          Multilingual Service Coordinator/Teacher

 

CLASSIFICATION:            Professional Staff      

 

JOB OBJECTIVE:   The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for students who are multilingual learners, will understand and embed literacy skills into the curriculum, and will deliver language acquisition strategies for students who are multilingual learners.

 

REPORTS TO:                     Director of Student Services

 

QUALIFICATIONS:           Preferred applicants will hold a Wisconsin teaching licensure for English as a Second Language (ESL) #1395. Preference will be given to those possessing a license with the #1023 Bilingual Education in addition to successful teaching experience or candidates who are bilingual.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:                      

 

       Conducting/supporting ongoing state and local assessments of students who are multilingual learners.

       Participating in Collaborative Learning Teams (CLTs) to support students of diverse backgrounds

       Providing instruction to students who are multilingual learners within push-in and pull-out configurations

       Maintaining confidentiality in verbal, written, and electronic communication

       Collaborating with school professionals to support literacy instruction.

       Supporting teachers in using formative and summative assessment data in all content areas to assist in planning whole group, small group, and individualized instruction

       When appropriate, provide small group and/or 1:1 targeted instruction to students using evidence based practices for intervention

       Provide consultation to school professionals regarding the servicing of students who are multilingual learners.

       Developing and distributing Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs)

       Conducting ACCESS testing to ensure students who are multilingual learners are progressing in achieving full English proficiency.

       Participates in all required training, at both a school and district level

       Providing training to staff in supporting the needs of students who are multilingual learners.

       Development and maintenance of onboarding programs for incoming students who are multilingual learners.

       Maintaining knowledge of laws pertaining to the development of ILPs and servicing multilingual learners.

       Assisting with the translation of legal documents in collaboration with external agencies when required, in compliance with current laws and regulations governing the education of multilingual learners.

       Performs all other duties as assigned by the principal and Director of Student Services

       Modeling and scaffolding the differentiation of materials to help school professionals develop the capacity to support multilingual learners effectively.

       Creating courses to support new students who are multilingual learners (as needed)

       Supporting the development and provision of universal supports to assist students who are multilingual learners throughout classrooms and buildings.

       Transition plans, exit paperwork, two years of post-exit monitoring, and completion of exit documentation.

       Collaborating with parents and conducting outreach and support activities, such as sending home communications and providing resources.
