SUMMARY: The Student Information and Educational Systems Specialist is a part of the OASD Technology team and will focus on supporting the day to day maintenance and end-user experience of our student information system (Skyward).  This position will be supporting the district Education and Information Systems Integrator as they audit and align our systems to ensure that we are using them efficiently, accurately, and to their full potential. As importantly, this position will be working very closely with our site administrative assistants and district departments to support the professional development and learning needs related to Skyward. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative & Student Information Systems Support Specialist

This role provides comprehensive support and training to staff and end-users on student information systems and related technologies. Responsibilities include:

Training & Development:

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for staff, both at the beginning of the school year and on an ongoing basis.

  • Create and maintain training documentation and a readily accessible knowledge base.

  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay abreast of best practices and emerging technologies, focusing on systems improvement and disseminating relevant information to stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with end-users to identify learning needs related to student information systems and design, deliver, and evaluate effective professional development programs.

Student Information System Administration & Support:

  • Manage, support, and maintain the Family and Student Access Portal.

  • Assist with the maintenance of Course Masters.

  • Support Course Requests and Future Scheduling processes.

  • Monitor and manage the Skyward email inbox.

  • Administer staff information and security access within Skyward.

  • Assist administrative staff with generating and scheduling reports, including data mining as needed.

  • Support administrative staff in creating processing lists as requested.

  • Provide support to administrative staff for student enrollment counts in September and January.

  • Assist administrative staff with scheduling tasks.

Technical & Help Desk Support:

  • Provide timely and courteous technical support to parents, staff, and students via email and phone, addressing issues related to devices and access to educational systems.

  • Assist with the technology and library budget and ordering processes.

  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in Skyward student information system and Google Workspace.

  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively to1 various audiences. Proven ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals.

  • Organizational & Time Management Skills: Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks, including balancing one-time projects with ongoing responsibilities while handling interruptions. Ability to anticipate administrative needs and proactively address them. Proficiency in organizing materials, creating schedules, and maintaining efficient filing systems.

  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze situations, identify problems, and develop effective solutions. Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, averages).

  • Professionalism & Confidentiality: Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality regarding all business, personnel, and school district matters. Adherence to ethical standards and professional conduct.

  • Self-Direction & Initiative: Ability to work independently, take initiative, and proactively seek opportunities for improvement.
