Summary:
The 4K Lead Teacher is responsible for helping develop, deliver, administer and evaluate the 4K program in coordination with the New Richmond School District. The program includes licensed components and working with state childcare licensor. The incumbent will work closely with the FLCC Director in scheduling, supervising, and coordinating the 4K program. The individual will implement activities designed to meet the specified objectives and goals of the FLCC.
Essential Functions:
• Develop and participate in 4K special events as needed.
• Tour prospective 4K Participants.
• Communicate and treat other staff members with courtesy and respect.
• Maintain a positive and helpful attitude with all members and participants.
• Keep supervisor informed of decisions and unresolved issues.
• Respond to all member concerns and communicate feedback in a timely manner.
Program Activities: Provide leadership and supervision to related 4K programs by ensuring staff teach safe and effective, high-quality programs in accordance with FLCC policies and procedures.
• Participate in monthly staff meetings.
• Help provide a high quality 4K program through upkeep of equipment, room appearance and trained staff.
• Ensure safety, quality, and consistency of the programs within First Lutheran Childcare.
• Continue to evaluate, update, and assist in the development of new programs and initiatives within the 4K program.
• Promote commitment to the goals and philosophy of the FLCC by remaining current and cutting edge with programming and equipment.
• Obtain the required amount of continuing education consistent with the licensing guidelines on an annual basis.
• Develop and implement daily programming schedules in coordination with the guidelines and expectations put forward by the School District of New Richmond.
• Deal with children and parent concerns in a timely, professional manner.
• Maintain program areas and equipment in a clean, safe, functional manner to meet all relevant standards. Contact supervisor with facility concerns immediately.
• Increase 4K participation by providing a high-quality program.
• Maintain positive relationships with state licensor and school district personnel.
• Develop and participate in special events as needed.
• Participate in YoungStar rating system by helping secure the highest rating possible.
• Maintain a professional relationship with program participants and parents.
• Represent the FLCC and maintain positive relationships with members, participants, and the community at large.
• Maintain all required certifications and attend recommended training programs. Attend regular staff training and meetings.
• Develop and implement a system of communication with other 4K staff and parents to create a teamwork atmosphere.
• Help maintain all required paperwork on children participating in the program in accordance with state licensing guidelines and daily attendance records, and accident/injury/incident reports.
• Assure that all equipment is in good working order and there is enough for all children in the program.
• Organize and keep all necessary program records, rosters and statistics.
Qualifications:
• Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, or Elementary Education that includes 18 credits specifically related to ECE or related degree with 18 credits specifically related to ECE.
• At least 1 year experience in an early care education setting; experience teaching preschool children means completion of supervised student teaching or experience as a preschool teacher in a licensed program or employment as a public-school preschool teacher.
• DPI certification in ECE or related DPI cert. or the ability to become DPI certified is required.
• Experience working with low-income families.
• Must have a valid Wisconsin’s Driver’s License, motor vehicle and adequate liability insurance as required by agency policy and state liability regulations.
• Must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others and be able to relate well to children, families, staff and community.
• Demonstrate effective listening, oral and written communication skills.
• Must be willing to fulfill their responsibilities in accordance with the district’s mission.
• Must secure Registry certificate within 90 days of employment.
