Seasonal
Summary: Directly reports to and assists Adaptive Recreation Specialist to coordinate, facilitate and oversee Camp Champions for enrolled participants (grades 4K-6th), creating high quality activities in a well supervised setting, in accordance with Recreation Department standards.
 
Hours of operation are 8:30am to 3:30pm Monday –Friday, excluding a scheduled break for July 4th. We ask that you commit to the entire ten weeks of Camp Champions (June 16th-August 20th, 2025), as attendance throughout the program is mandatory. Preparation and planning to meet Recreation Department guidelines and expectations will begin traditionally in February.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Greet and welcome all participants, parents, and/or community members.
  • Help to create and ensure a safe program environment which may include program set-up and clean-up and general cleaning of spills, bodily fluids, etc. as the program dictates.
  • Work collaboratively with all other district and department personnel.
  • Representative of the Recreation Department, uphold and exemplify department policies and guidelines in all aspects of job performance and in relationships with children, families and district employees as outlined in the department employee handbook.
  • Administer and/or assist with basic First Aid and completion and submission of accident report forms.
  • Communicate program information, expectations to participants, parents, and/or community members.
  • Communicate all program changes, incidents, needs, or concerns to immediate supervisor or department program administrator.
  • Review and approve payroll documentation as directed by immediate supervisor or department administrator.
  • Ability to facilitate conflict resolution and independently problem solve as directed by immediate supervisor or department administrator.
  • Supervision of camp staff and volunteers.
  • Oversees, plan and instruct all daily program activities to ensure safety and meet the needs of all participants.
  • Overall understanding and awareness of health and medical needs of participants.
  • Coordinate and implement field trips and/or large group activities.
  • Work collaboratively with Action Adventures Camp Staff to create a weekly schedule of activities for campers to attend along with camp inclusive weekly activity.
  • Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or department administrator.

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • College Degree – Preferably in the area of Therapeutic Recreation, Special Education, or Education
  • Experience with Programs planning for people of all ages with disabilities required.
  • Ability to share general department program knowledge and answer or direct questions to appropriate department personnel.
