Job Description: 

The School District of Osceola seeks a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team as a Special Education Coordinator/School Psychologist. This full-time role will oversee and support special education programs, ensure compliance with regulations, collaborate with administration, staff, and families to support students with diverse learning needs, and serve as a school psychologist for grades 5-12.

Requirements or Qualifications:  

  • A licensed school psychologist 

  • Special Education Administration license or Administrator license or willingness to obtain 

  • A minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching experience is preferred.

  • Experience in managing Special Education Programs 

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with administration, staff, and families 

  • Strong understanding of Special Education laws and compliance requirements 

  • Positive and responsive communication with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors and the community 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee Special Education Programs: Manage and support special education programs and services for grades 5 - 12.

    • Kompass Care and SBS Oversight

    • Procedural Compliance 

  • Collaborate with Administration: Work with administration to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of special education services, related services, processes, management, and development.

  • Support Diverse Learners: Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to support students with diverse learning needs.

  • Oversee Tier 3 Interventions: Manage tools, processes, and protocols for tracking, gathering, and making data-driven decisions.

  • Advocate for Inclusive Practices: Promote inclusive education practices and advocate for students with disabilities.

  • Manage IEPs: Oversee the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and ensure compliance with accommodations and modifications.

  • Train Staff: Provide training for staff to be Local Educational Agency (LEA) representatives and attend meetings as necessary.

  • Ensure Legal Compliance: Ensure compliance with special education laws and regulations, manage special education complaints, and handle DPI paperwork.

  • Professional Development: Provide onboarding, mentoring, support, and training for educators and support staff.

  • Stay Current on Best Practices: Implement evidence-based strategies and stay updated on best practices in special education.

  • Prepare Documentation: Prepare required documentation and reports for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

  • Oversee Extreme Situations: Manage processes for seclusion/restraint, reduced days, manifestation determinations, and expulsions.

  • Manage Fiscal Resources: Oversee special education budgets, grants, and expenditures to ensure fiscal efficiency.

  • Collaborate on Special Education Areas: Regularly meet with the 54K - 4 Special Education Coordinator to discuss budgets, staffing, professional development, transitions, and more.

  • Private School Coordination: Coordinate special education services for private schools in grade 5 - 12.

  • Kompass Care and SBS Oversight: Oversee Kompass Care and School-Based Services (SBS) processes.

  • Hiring Team Members: Participate in the hiring process for special education positions.

  • State Testing Accommodations: Plan, facilitate, and support state testing accommodations.

  • Procedural Compliance Self-Assessment: Manage compliance with procedural requirements and indicators.

  • Supervise Psychologist: Perform duties as a school psychologist in coordination with the other 5-12 school psychologists..  Coordinate, supervise, and support  5 -12 school psychologist.

  • Grant Management: Manage and execute Early Learning Grants.

  • Evaluate and Support Staff: Evaluate and support certified and support staff, including speech pathologists and school psychologists.

  • Other Duties as Assigned
