Part Time
Performs a variety of non-teaching classroom support as directed under the supervision of an assigned special education teacher.  This position is located at Bay Port High School for grades 9-12.  The position will focus on supporting students who have a variety of disability related needs.  The position is Monday- Friday.  The hours are as follows: Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 7:30 am - 2:00 pm, Wednesday from 7:30 am- 2:45 pm, and Thursday from 7:30 am - 1:00 pm. The base hourly rate is $17.00/hr with opportunity for increased compensation based on a variety of District and/or State requirements and qualifications.  Start date is as soon as possible.   This is not a health or dental benefit eligible position based on ACA requirements. 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assisting the teacher in delivering lessons, activities, and assignments/(could be in all academic areas such as tech ed, FACE, academic areas, PE)
  • Working with small groups of students or one-on-one to reinforce learning.
  • Helping students with special needs to follow instructions and complete tasks.
  • Helping to maintain a positive and organized classroom environment.
  • Monitoring students’ behavior and providing support to maintain discipline throughout the day including lunch, recess, or field trips.
  • Assisting with transitions between activities or classroom settings (wheelchair, walker, scooter).
  • Helping students with assignments or projects in subjects like math, reading, or writing.
  • Supporting students with physical disabilities (toileting needs, Hoyer lift) or emotional disabilities.
  • Providing support during school activities or extracurricular events.
  • Encouraging positive interactions among students, especially in group activities.
  • Assisting with conflict resolution when necessary.
  • Communicating with teachers, students, and sometimes parents about students’ progress or needs.
  • Reporting any concerns about students’ behavior or academic performance to the teacher.
  • Modifying or adapting lesson materials to make them more accessible for students with special needs.
  • Assisting with the implementation of accommodations for students with disabilities (e.g., assistive technology).
  • Administering emergency medicine and tube feedings. 
  • Assist self-contained EBD Students with academic work

Special Education License #883 upon hire is required. Applicant responsible for payment of license through the Wisconsin DPI.
