Position Details
SUMMARY:
Members of the Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment Department provide professional learning, networking and coaching to schools and districts throughout the CESA 8 region. They serve as a conduit between the DPI and LEAs, providing regional leadership and support for implementation of state and federal initiatives. Consultants on this team maintain a deep understanding of evidence-based educational practice in their respective fields and support the strategic use of data for improvement planning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 
Lead the planning, developing, reviewing, and evaluating of regional Title I and literacy programs
 - 
Provide professional learning, networking and coaching supports for teachers and leaders to enhance their knowledge and skills in the application of high-quality literacy instruction and interventions
 - 
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of literacy programming through ongoing data analysis and assessment
 - 
Support school/district teams in the selection, implementation and adoption of high-quality instructional materials
 - 
Support the implementation of state standards, curriculum development, instructional practice and assessment practices
 - 
Stay updated on current research and evidenced based practices in literacy education and incorporate them into program design and implementation
 - 
Advocate for literacy education at the local, regional, and state levels, participating in relevant grant work, committees and conferences
 - 
Initiate, coordinate, and apply for grants related to literacy, the enhancement of educator practice, implementation of high-quality instructional materials and other areas that align with the mission, vision, values and principles of service of the agency
 - 
Collaborate with other CESA 8 team members to provide integrated supports and services for our member districts
 - 
Perform other duties that may be assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Master’s Degree and DPI certification (1316 and/or 1317)
 - 
Experience as a Reading Teacher and/or Reading Specialist
 - 
Experience with Act 20 and science-based literacy instruction
 - 
Experience leading the selection and implementation of high-quality instructional materials
