LOCATION: East Central Wisconsin. Sixty miles north of Milwaukee on Highway 41. Easy driving distance to Appleton, Oshkosh, Madison, Milwaukee, and Green Bay. Marian University (four years) located in Fond du Lac. City population and surrounding area which constitutes the school district, approximately 45,000.
SCHOOLS: 14 schools – one high school, grades 9-12 with an alternative high school option; three middle schools, grades 6-8; nine elementary schools, grades 4K-5; and one STEM charter school serving grades 6 - 12.

Title IX Nondiscrimination Policy Statement –
As mandated by the current provisions of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and under the regulations set forth in Chapter 106 of Title 34 of the Code of Federal Regulations (“the federal Title IX regulations”), the District does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of sex in any education program or activity that the District operates. Title IX’s requirement not to discriminate in any education program or activity extends to cover, but is not limited to, District students, certain admissions processes, and District employment. Inquiries regarding how Title IX and the federal Title IX regulations apply to the District may be referred to a District Title IX Coordinator (as designated below), to the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education, or to both.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Substitute Secretary
REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources
COORDINATES WITH: HR Substitute Coordinator, Building Principals, teaching staff
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent
Computer knowledge and experience required
Office background preferred
Experience with Skyward/Qmlativ preferred
COMPENSATION SCHEDULE: Substitute Secretary
EMPLOYMENT TERM: Temporary
WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS: 8 hours daily by location schedule
*EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT STATUS: Non-exempt
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES
The substitute secretary fills in on a temporary basis for secretaries in a variety of capacities to facilitate the normal operation of the schools.

Assists with relevant medical protocols (e.g., providing first aid to staff and students, maintaining accurate log of distribution of medicine) (as needed)

Assists with filling of vacancies (requesting substitutes via Aesop/Absence Management, contacting substitutes, etc.) (as needed)

Assists with student supervision (as needed)

Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods, up to six hours in an eight-hour day

Ability to perform light physical work, frequently lifting up to ten pounds without assistance in an indoor setting

Ability to reach in all directions and bend/stoop to store and retrieve files

Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person to provide information and assistance

Ability to move throughout the building and from building to building

Dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment such as fax machine, copier, etc.

Hearing ability adequate to participate in numerous conversations throughout the day, both in person and over the telephone

Ability to complete job activities in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norm

Ability to maintain concentration and focus on tasks requiring timeliness and accuracy

Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor

Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Remain free of any alcohol or illegal substance in the workplace in compliance with Policy 3122.01 / 4122.01 throughout their employment in the District.

Perform additional duties and responsibilities necessary within the scope of this employment position as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
*No overtime eligible employee may perform overtime work for the District without prior supervisory approval. No non-exempt employee may perform work for the District outside of his/her regular schedule without prior supervisory approval. Violations of this requirement will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination from employment.
