Position Details
Position Title: Speech and Language Pathologist – Sand Lake Elementary
- Certified and/or eligible for Wisconsin certification as a Speech and Language Pathologist.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Successful working experience with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to develop positive, constructive relations with students, staff and the public.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Evaluate students referred for concerns with lagging speech/language skills.
- Plan and implement clinical program for students who have been identified with a speech/language impairment and/or student having related disabilities with communication needs.
- Assist staff with development and implementation of instruction methods, materials and techniques for students with speech/language impairments.
- Act as a resource to teachers, administrators and parents when a student presents with lagging skills in the area of speech/language and requires more intensive intervention.
- Develop and maintain the instructional component of the IEP according to the results of the evaluation and on-going assessment of progress.
- Coordinate IEP team meetings for students with speech and language impairments
- Provide augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for students with severe expressive and/or language comprehension disorders.
- Assist the Director of Student Services, principal and other staff in the development, implementation and individual programs and services.
- Act as liaison between special education staff, regular education staff, supervisors, administrators and parents.
- Coordinate the training of staff, administrators and parents on new methods/techniques, materials, district procedures and state laws applicable to Speech/Language services.
- Complete Medicaid billing for services provided to students in an efficient, comprehensive, and timely manner.
- Perform other duties related to the job summary as assigned by the principal or designee.Some duties outside the teacher workday may be contracted assignments.
