DeForest Area School District is located just ten miles northeast of Madison in Dane County. We offer outstanding facilities and a competitive salary and benefits package. DASD is seeking an Administrative Assistant for Instructional Services; this is a 12 month position. The current location of this position is DeForest District Office and will start in March 2025.
This position provides administrative support to the Director of Instruction, grades 7 - 12, including Professional Development, Curriculum, Assessment, Multilingual Department, Academic & Career Planning, Career & Technical Education, Gradebooks, Educator Effectiveness, Title programming, and Summer School Programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform administrative support functions for general operation of the Director of Instruction's office.
Assist the Director of Instruction in developing, coordinating, and implementing professional development opportunities (including Professional Development Compensation - PDC), staff development days, DASD graduate courses, curriculum development, workshops, and conferences.
Arrange and prepare for committee meetings including agendas, room scheduling and set-up, supplies, and required technology.
Perform all clerical tasks as assigned by the Director of Instruction to include sorting mail, placing and receiving phone and email correspondence, completing and filing reports, and updating regulations, policies, memos, handbooks, etc.
Manage and maintain the online system for Educator Effectiveness.
Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Create, manage, and maintain the grade books for staff.
Assist in supporting assessments, such as Forward, PreACT, PreACT Secure, and ACT.
Manage the budget and logistics for the district Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS).
Manage and maintain with supervision the Instructional Services budget, including purchasing materials needed for curriculum and professional development.
Draft financial, narrative, tabular, or other reports as requested.
Attend meetings as requested to take notes or furnish information.Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Associate or bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) in administrative support, business, or related field.
Progressively responsible administrative support work experience that demonstrates an ability to work independently as well as within a team.
Skilled in Google and office applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
Demonstration of excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain professional relationships and represent the district in a positive manner.
Must demonstrate poise, tact, and diplomacy in busy and stressful situations.
Ability to manage time and multiple priorities with a minimum of direction or supervision.
Must have strong written, verbal, and numerical communication skills.
Significant attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
Must possess the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions as well as the ability to analyze a problem from multiple perspectives and to find connections between people, programs, and resources. Must have the capability and desire to streamline processes to be more efficient and effective.
