The Sauk Prairie School District is pleased to announce an extraordinary opportunity for an energetic, organized, experienced & inspiring leader of early childhood education as the Sauk Prairie Early Learning Center Director. The Sauk Prairie Early Learning Center is a year round program providing early care & education to children ages birth - 5 with an enrollment capacity of 168. (Enrollment capacity impacts the education requirements for this position.) The ideal candidate is responsible for the overall management & administration of the childcare center. This role includes overseeing daily operations, enrollment, ensuring compliance with Wisconsin group childcare rules & regulations, obtaining & sustaining a high-quality YoungStar rating, fostering a safe & nurturing environment, managing staff & creating developmentally appropriate educational programs. The Director acts as the face of the center by building strong relationships with families, staff & community. The Early Learning Center Director reports to the Community Ed/Recreation Coordinator & Superintendent. The Childcare Center is currently being constructed in Culver Community Park in Prairie du Sac. The Director will have approximately six months to prepare for opening. The anticipated position start date is early to mid March 2025.

Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure compliance with all state & local licensing regulations & YoungStar requirements.

* Develop, implement & oversee written family & staff policies, procedures & operational practices.
* Manage center budgets, including tuition collection, payroll & expenses in partnership with the Business Office of the Sauk Prairie School District.
* Recruit, hire, train & retain highly qualified childcare staff.
* Schedule & supervise staff to ensure proper child-to-staff ratios are maintained.
* Conduct regular staff evaluations & provide ongoing professional development opportunities.
* Foster a positive work environment that supports teamwork & staff well-being.
* Enroll, provide family tours & market the program.
* Oversee the implementation of a DAP curriculum & assessment aligned with Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards & the use of practices that meet the individual needs of children & families.
* Monitor & assess program effectiveness, making adjustments to meet the developmental needs of children.
* Promote a culture of inclusivity, fostering an environment that embraces diversity & equity.
* Partner with the District's school-based Afterschool Childcare Manager to ensure consistency of programming.
* Coordinate with teachers & staff involved in the District's school-based 4K wrap-around childcare program.
* Build strong, trusting relationships with families serving as the primary point of contact for questions, concerns & feedback.
* Represent the center in the community by participatiing in outreach activities.
* Develop & implement emergency preparedness plans & procedures.
* Address & resolve conflicts or incidents promptly & effectively.

District Description:
The district includes Sauk City and Prairie du Sac, two “next door” villages known as Sauk Prairie. They are located on the beautiful Wisconsin River. Thirteen towns and the village of Merrimac are also in the district. The area features rolling hills, meadows, bluffs, forests, lakes and streams. The district offers small-town, rural living with easy access to the Madison urban area (25 miles) and to the Wisconsin Dells recreation area (28 miles). The district serves 2,800 students, and comprises six learning communities with a high school of 850 students, middle school of 600 students and four elementary schools of 1,350 students.
1. Meet education & training requirements as listed in Wisconsin Group Child Care Rules & Regulations to be the program director of a program for more than 51 children
2. Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field (Masters preferred)
3. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in early childhood education, including at least one year in a supervisory role
4. Registry Certificate of education qualifications
5. Knowledge of Wisconsin state childcare licensing regulations & YoungStar processes
6. Current certification in CPR & First Aid, Abusive Head Trauma, SIDS Prevention & in Mandated Reporting of Child Abuse are required (or willing to receive training to be certified)
7. Yearly Criminal Background Check & Caregiver Background Check with one-time fingerprinting will be performed
8. TB test & health exam is required within 30 days after the first day of work
9. Essential computer skills with spreadsheet, word processing & database experience; Skyward experience preferred
10. Above average oral & written communication skills & organizational skills
11. Ability to properly handle confidential matters, emergency situations & work in a positive manner with staff & the school community
12. Self-motivated individual who is able to complete tasks on time & work independently
13. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
14. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
