TITLE: ASSISTANT COOK
LOCATION: Oshkosh North High School
HOURS: 6:15 am – 2:30 pm (7.75 Hours)
179 serving days + 1 day to open
WAGE RANGE: $18.22 – $19.38 / hour

1. Able to read and follow standardize recipes.
2. Prepare menu items from written recipes and other written and verbal directions for area schools, high schools, contracted schools, and other functions.
3. Make independent decisions regarding scheduling of daily food production to ensure the timely service of menu items.
4. Pack food for transportation to area schools.
5. Serve food to student customers during lunch and provide back up services as needed.
6. Complete food usage records daily.
7. Clean and sanitize food service equipment.
8. Accurately total cash sales and provide change using a variety of cash handling equipment.
9. Alert kitchen supervisor of food and supply needs in a timely fashion.
10. Alert kitchen supervisor of equipment and safety problems in a timely fashion.
11. Assist in the development of menus and recipes.
12. Repeatedly lift and/or otherwise move cases and pans of food and other materials.
13. Follows Uniform Guidelines by wearing proper uniform clothing apparel, slip resistant shoes, proper hair restraints, and maintains high standards of personal hygiene.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participate in team processes for continuous improvement.
2. Perform other responsibilities deemed applicable by the High School Kitchen Supervisor, Asst. Food Service Director, or Food Services Director.
1. Successful completion of a quantity food preparation/production technical school training program or its equivalent in knowledge and experience.
2. One year successful experience in quantity food production.
3. Successful completion of Oshkosh Area School District Cook exam - 80 percent or better.
4. Successful completion of math skills examination.
5. Able to make routine decisions regarding daily schedule.
6. Able to interact tactfully, effectively, and courteously with students, staff, and other persons encountered in the course of work.
7. Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
8. Able to work in an environment which requires standing or walking 95 percent of the workday.
9. Able to follow written and verbal directions.
10. Knowledge of measuring, weighing, and following recipes properly.
11. Knowledge of operating equipment in a production kitchen.
12. Able to fulfill Cook's responsibilities when Cook is absent.
13. Able to operate a cash register and provide cashiering services.
14. High School Diploma or equivalent.
15. Such other qualifications as the Board of Education may find acceptable.
