The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District is seeking an accomplished and visionary educator to lead its Teaching and Learning Department.  The ideal candidate is equity-focused, grounded in research-based best practices, and a champion for student and staff engagement and empowerment.

 

DISTRICT GOALS:

Our current system is responsible for inequitable outcomes for our students. Only through ongoing individual reflection and learning, and collaborative approaches to professional development will we create a school district where this is no longer true. We have the ability, through our beliefs and actions, to change the educational outcomes for our students.

  1. Every educator will use effective literacy practices that are culturally and linguistically responsive so that every student achieves the following by the 2025-26 school year.
    1. Reading proficiency by the end of third grade as measured by the Wisconsin Forward Examination;
    2. Reading proficiency by the end of eighth grade as measured by the Wisconsin Forward Examination;
    3. ACT reading composite score of 22.

            These practices will be validated through the Educator Effectiveness Evaluation process.

  1. Every student will graduate with their respective class by the end of the 2023-24 school year.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

       Wisconsin DPI licensure-Superintendent, Director of Instruction

       Master’s degree in educational administration

       School leadership (principalship) experience strongly preferred

       District-level leadership experience preferred

       Direct responsibility for innovative program development in Pk-12 education institutions strongly preferred

       Proven record of successful instructional leadership that resulted in increases in equitable outcomes for students

      Proven record of leading effective professional development grounded in district goals and priorities

      Preferred:  Bilingual in Spanish/English

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

       Serve as a member of the senior leadership team with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Operations

       Oversee the coordination of and provides leadership to the following teaching and learning areas:

   PK-12 Instruction - Including early childhood special education and 4-year old kindergarten programming

   Curriculum renewal and design

   Student Services and Special Education

   Multilingual Services - including a Two-Way Immersion (Spanish) program

   Certified Staff Professional Development

   Innovative programming, particularly at the secondary level

   Continuous Improvement

       Directly supervise five (5) Directors and the Data & Systems Support Specialist

       Coordinates all principal level-meetings on a monthly basis (elementary, middle, high)

       Collaborate with the administrative team and Board in developing and implementing all applicable policies and guidelines

       Provide leadership and direction in districtwide educational programs

       Facilitate development and oversight of the Teaching and Learning Department budget

       Oversee and coordinate program evaluation and student assessment

       Act as liaison with the principals and other groups as assigned by the Superintendent

       Serve as New Educator Induction Program Leader

       Attend and participates at regular meetings of the Superintendent's staff, Board, and committee groups as assigned

       Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or as appropriate to the job

 

PHYSICAL:

This is a sedentary job that involves only a negligible amount of force regularly and exerting forces up to 10 pounds occasionally. This job primarily involves sitting with an occasional need to move about for brief periods of time. Reaching forward, handling objects and papers, and keyboarding especially for computer usage are all performed frequently. Verbal and auditory communication is frequently involved. Near acuity is frequently utilized.
