Position Summary:
The Cross-Categorical Special Education Teacher & Neurodiversity Support Specialist will provide specially designed instruction and consultation to support early elementary students with neurodiverse needs, including autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in evidence-based strategies for students with ASD, demonstrate strong collaboration skills, and be deeply committed to fostering independence, communication, and social-emotional development in young learners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that support students' academic and functional needs
  • Provide support and guidance to staff on best practices for working with neurodiverse students
  • Provide direct instruction and support in inclusive and small-group settings using evidence-based strategies to build academic and functional skills
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure alignment of instructional practices and meaningful progress toward IEP goals and grade-level standards
  • Use data-driven decision-making to monitor student progress through assessments, observations, and ongoing data collection, adjusting instruction as needed
  • Implement positive behavior interventions and supports to foster self-regulation and address challenging behaviors
  • Create opportunities for authentic peer interactions that foster meaningful social connections
