Position Details

Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques and teach these to the overall program.

Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.

Utilize the services provided by the Athletic Trainer (Prevea) and the Strength Coach (PCSD.)
-
Ensure that all coaches work together to provide unity within the Pulaski Athletic Department and the feeder groups.

Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students’ athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.

Train and inform other staff members and encourage professional growth.

Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.

Work with the PHS Athletic Department to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements.

Accompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports on all trips.

Successfully complete the WIAA Rules test and view the corresponding sport video annually. Instruct and advise students on WIAA rules and regulations.

Maintain all student-athlete emergency files and pertinent PCSD and WIAA forms.

apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, and encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.

Establish and maintain open, professional and respectful communications with students, parents, teachers, youth feeder coaches, and the Athletic Director.

Have the total athletic and school program at interest. Be supportive of school participation in other PCSD activities and communicate with colleagues regarding expectations in and out of season.

Collect and maintain inventory of all uniforms and equipment within the program.

Annually establish and meet performance goals.

Be familiar and adhere to the PHS Coaches Handbook.

Advise students and parents on athletic code of conduct, including consequences for violations, and coordinate with the Athletic Director in instances of possible violations of the PCSD Code.

Must attend the annual Coaches Training Meeting in August each year.

Head Coaches must attend the end of season Conference Meetings as scheduled.

Head Coaches must attend and assistants should attend the annual PHS Code Meeting held the third Sunday of May each year.

Valid teaching certificate or prior coaching experience and NFHS Certification.
-
CPR/First Aid/Epi-Inhaler Certification.
-
Knowledge of WIAA/Conference rules.
-
Demonstrate ability to instruct, lead and supervise student athletes.
-
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
