Position Details

Based on experience, starting between $25.00 and $31.00 per hour
8.0 hours/day, 5 days/week, 12 months/year
Full Time
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Financial Services
   • Manage the accounting and reporting of the Financial Services Department.
   • Manage the accounts receivable operation.
   • Provide costing scenarios as requested.
   • Reconcile District cash and investment accounts monthly.
   • Assist the Coordinator of Financial Services with DPI financial reporting.
   • Maintain equipment inventory and the fixed asset report and perform internal physical inventories.
   • Process stop payments and wire transfers.
   • Generate purchase orders as needed.
   • Issue invoices as needed.
   • Issue district tax exemption certificates and W-9s as needed.
   • Complete credit applications.
   • Maintain a chart of accounts and create new accounts as needed and in accordance with the Wisconsin Uniform Financial Accounting Requirements (WUFAR).
   • Monitor and assist school secretaries regarding the financial reporting of the school’s activity accounts and bank accounts. 
   • Post daily cash and budget activity as needed for schools.
   • Maintain record retention for financial records.
   • Assist with the preparation for the district audit, including requests for information, gathering, organizing and preparing audit documents.
   • Monitors and reports unclaimed checks.
   • Reviews and prepares IRS Form 1095s.
2. Federal, State, and Local Grants
   • Assist District project coordinators with budget issues.
   • Supervise the claims submission and grant audit requirements.
   • Verify the appropriateness of grant expenditures with approval documents.
   • Manage communication with grant agencies.
   • Monitor DPI Aids Register and complete journal entries.
3. Other
   • Provide fiscal assistance as assigned or self-initiated.
   • Attend seminars, in-services, and conferences as necessary to remain current with requirements related to responsibilities.
REQUIRED TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of an Associate’s degree in accounting.
• Experience in and knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
• Experience in and knowledge of payroll practices, procedures, and regulations.
• Experience in and knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures.
• Understanding of and ability to use various computer applications.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a manner to ensure that deadlines are met.
• Excellent communication and public relations skills.
 
DESIRED TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Experience in school business operations.
• Experience in using Skyward school financial software.
