The Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton School District/Brookwood Jr. & Sr. High School is located in the heart of the beautiful driftless region in Southwest Wisconsin. The N-O-W School District/Brookwood Jr. & Sr. High School has an enrollment of approximately 600+ students PreK-12th grades housed in one school building that is centrally located between our three communities. The N-O-W School District strives to provide the best learning and co-curricular opportunities as possible for all students every day. The N-O-W School District/Brookwood Jr. & Sr. High School is seeking a part-time Athletic Director that will be responsible for overseeing and promoting the overall success of K-12 athletics and co-curricular events. The position will officially begin on July 1, 2025 due to the retirement of the current Athletic Director. Training and shadowing to learn the roles of the position will take place in a flexible manner from the time of hire to the official start date on July 1, 2025.
Additional District Information: The N-O-W School District/Brookwood Jr. & Sr. High School is in the construction phase of a near $30 million dollar referendum construction project slated to be complete in December of 2025. Extensive upgrades are being made to nearly all athletic facilities (new football field, running track, and Physical Education space was already completed in fall of 2024), a new community fitness center, gymnasium, fine arts center, and numerous classroom upgrades throughout the school building in the areas of Technical Education, Agricultural Education, Music Education, Physical Education, and much more will be complete by December of 2025. This renovation project will ultimately make the district an even greater destination for education and co-curricular options. Athletic & Activities Director Job Description
Qualifications
• Administrative/leadership experience highly preferred
• Previous coaching, and/or team leadership experience required
• High-energy personality, outgoing, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable with public speaking who is a natural leader with competitive drive along with the ability to initiate and conduct difficult conversations with individuals at all levels
• Ability to organize athletic practice and event schedules at all levels (youth, Jr. High School, and High School)
• The ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary
Responsibilities:
• Continue to foster school spirit & communicate effectively between athletics and other school programs
• Oversee proper budgeting and maintenance of athletic equipment and facilities in collaboration with the District Administrator and Business Agent
• Coordinate athletic fundraising initiatives
• Manage athletics-related logistics including schedules, contest officials, game contracts, and transportation; ensure compliance with regulating bodies
• Responsible for the hiring and placement of coaches, as well as the development, ongoing mentorship and evaluation of the athletic department staff and seasonal coaches
• Confer with coaches during the season and review self-evaluations of the coach’s performance at the conclusion of each season, stressing strengths, areas where growth is evident, and recommending alternatives to improve areas of deficiency
• Demonstrate an approachable and open spirit among all constituents
• All other duties assigned by the District Administrator and other lead administrators as needed
