Position Details
Description of Responsibilities: To assist teacher(s) and other certified personnel in performing a variety of instructional support duties to individual or small groups of regular and/or Special Education students in classrooms or resource environments.

Assist individual and/or small groups of students in performing activities initiated by the teacher
-
Redirect behavior and implement behavior management plans
-
Provide the special education teacher with information about the general education assignments, activities and student participation and behavior
-
Intervene with other students about inappropriate behavior, language or actions
-
Provide supervision and assistance on playgrounds, lunch room, assemblies, field trips or other locations as directed
-
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
-
Experience working with children - strong experiences dealing with student behaviors is preferred.

Certification as a Special Education Program Aide by the Department of Public Instruction must be obtain within the 1st 3 months - District will endorse and assist the chosen candidate to get their DPI license.

Demonstrated competence in the area of child supervision

Knowledge of basic computer skills

Completion of physical examination as required by Board of Education policy, state and federal law

Such additions or alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
