Position Details
Wisconsin Virtual Academy High School is seeking a dynamic educator for a high school math position which supports a wide range of learners and math abilities. The teacher must be willing to collaborate with co-teachers to provide individualized curriculum and supports.
The statements below are intended to describe the general scope, characteristics, and responsibilities of this position's work. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required; other duties may be assigned. In general, an educator in this posting can be at minimum expected to:
- Provide engaging synchronous and asynchronous instruction aimed at maximizing student engagement, inquiry,and knowledge attainment.
- Design instruction based on a pragmatic philosophy encouraging questioning and inquiry through Project-Based learning’s instructional approach.
- Manage the learning process (sequencing, unit design), grading (competency based), and general course maintenance through various school platforms.
- Collaborate with peers to provide a positive experience for students; build community and model the instructional approach with other staff.
- Support parents with student curricular and instructional issues, balance the flexibility of the curriculum. Maintain regular contact via phone, text and email with both students and parents.
- Orient students to their course, communicate requirements, set and enforce deadlines, maintain regular office hours and conduct instructional activities.
- Participate in online meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
- Participate in in-person meetings, trainings, and events as scheduled.
- Engage in some travel: Travel to and participate in professional development, in-person school events, state testing, and graduation activities.
- Possess the ability to develop positive and engaging relationships with students and parents.
- Experience working in a virtual environment a plus.
- Knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook is also a plus or will need to be developed in new teacher training.

Work Hours: Is available to students, parents, and staff from 8:00am – 4:30pm Monday - Friday or agreed upon hours.
Work from home (10% travel for required events).
Computer, monthly internet stipend, printer, soft phone provided.
This position does have healthcare, vision, dental, 401K- match, & bonuses (not a district position).
