Full Time

This is a full-time leadership position with the Oshkosh Area School District-Department of Recreation.  The Recreation Supervisor will be responsible for planning, budgeting, managing and evaluating the programs, operations and personnel for the Recreation Department.  Areas of program responsibility include:  youth and adult sports, youth and adult leisure and enrichment, and outdoor facility management.

 

Program Plan and Management: (35%)

1.     Plan, organize and direct a variety of youth and adult sport leagues

2.     Plan, organize, implement, evaluate and supervise various other programs, events and services

3.     Assess community needs, interests and resources in developing new programs while evaluating existing programs to provide a comprehensive community-wide recreation program for all ages and needs

 

Leadership and Supervision: (22%)

1.     Direct certain activities as a face-to-face leader

2.     Responsible for recruiting, hiring, supervising, training and evaluating part-time seasonal personnel

3.     Implements district hiring procedures

 

Marketing and Communication: (11%)

1.     Market and promote programs on print material, the department website and social media

2.     Communicate tactfully, effectively, and courteously with staff and others

 

Administrative and Operational Coordination: (11%)

1.     Responsible for various administrative functions including but not limited to personnel, payroll, budgeting, purchasing, marketing, reports and office management

2.     Schedules and coordinates the use of facilities utilized for recreation department programs

3.  Coordinates and schedules all outdoor District facilities for the recreation department and outside user groups

 

Professional Development and Ethics: (11%)

1.     Maintains confidentiality and unquestionable integrity

2.     Keeps informed of trends and developments in recreation programming

3.     Develop and practice good management skills

 

Community Engagement and Collaboration: (5%)

1.     Works with related groups and agencies in the community 

2.     Consult with the Director of Recreation on capital improvement plans

 

Other Responsibilities:

Performs other tasks and assumes responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Recreation (5%)

 

1.     Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Leadership or Administration or related fields.

2.     National certification as a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) through National Recreation and Parks Association within 3 years of employment.

3.     Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) certification in sports officiating preferred or ability to obtain within two years of employment.

4.     Programming experience in youth/adult sports and youth/adult leisure and enrichment strongly desired.

5.     Must have excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

6.     Strong computer skills are desired.

7.     Must be able to work independently as well as within a team.

8.     Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
