School Year, 184 days/year, 7 hours/day, 8:15 AM – 3:45 PM
Full Time
WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Assists the English Learner teacher and/or classroom teacher through interpretation and translation to reinforce instruction as directed by the teacher.
  • Serves as a liaison and facilitates important communication between home and school by helping each to understand the needs of the students and the services of the school.
  • Works with English Learner students in I/E time to meet academic standards.
  • Supports and/or tests one-on-one or small groups of students to reinforce academic instruction.
  • Prepares materials and assists in the instruction of students.
  • Works closely with the English Learner Teacher.
  • Completes clerical work as assigned.
  • Offers support to parents with completion of school forms, etc.
  • Interprets for Parent/Teacher conferences and IEP meetings as needed.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL RECEIVE
  • $17.00 per hour

WHAT IT TAKES
  • Bilingual in Hmong or Spanish required; Hmong preferred. Must be able to speak student’s primary language as well as English.
  • Highly Qualified preferred at a Title I schoolwide building (Mountain Bay Elementary), which requires:
    • As associate (or higher) degree OR
    • At least 48 post-secondary credits OR
    • Successful completio of paraprofessional assessments, with support from the District.
  • Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must be sensitive to cultural diversity.
  • Develops rapport with students through communication and active listening skills – this position requires patience, compassion, and understanding of the students’ needs.
  • Works within a team, having the ability to enforce rules to maintain safety at all times, be flexible, and make judgment decisions in an environment with ongoing changes.
  • Ability to relate well with students and staff.
