Whitewater High School seeks a dedicated Technology Education teacher for the 2025-2026 school year and beyond. The opening is a result of an anticipated retirement at the end of the 2024-2025 school year. Applicants must be committed to continuous improvement and skilled at fostering mutually respectful relationships with students, parents, colleagues and community members to assist students in the processes of learning to design and build products and to develop the technological, problem-solving, and hands-on skills needed in the skilled trades.
 
Experience teaching a variety of Technical Education courses is desired as the specific teaching course load will be crafted to fit the skill set of the chosen candidate.  Currently, the anticpated courses to be taught could include: Exploratory Tech, Building Materials I & II, Carpentry, Metal Fabrication, Introduction to Engineering, and a co-taught Math for the Trades course.  In addition, the chosen candidate will be provided two instructional planning (prep) periods each day.
 
Additional consideration will be given to candidates willing to pursue transcripted course certification(s) through our local Gateway Technical College partnership   Applicants interested in extra-curricular coaching positions are encouraged to apply.  Qualified candidates will be interviewed as applications are submitted. 
 
Whitewater High School has approximately 600 students and offerings similar to schools of a much larger size. We take great pride in being a Triple- A school by giving our students the opportunity to explore academic, athletic, and art offerings in a smaller and much more personalized setting than a high school of 1000+ students. In addition, our vast curriculum allows students to prepare themselves for post-secondary education or the world of work by learning and using 21st century skills. 
 
The Whitewater Unified School District has elements of rural and suburban communities.  The City of Whitewater has a population of approximately 14,500. Whitewater is located in southern Wisconsin, approximately 45 miles west of Milwaukee, 45 miles east of Madison, and 100 miles northwest of Chicago. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, with an enrollment of over 10,500 students, offers residents a variety of cultural and educational opportunities.  Whitewater is a vibrant, diverse community with a growing population of multilingual families.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
Candidates must demonstrate:
Familiarity with state standards in all relevant subject area disciplines; 
Creativity, enthusiasm and a high degree of energy; 
Ability to develop industry partnerships; 
Understand the use of technologies that can personalize learning for students and enhance critical thinking (i.e. Chromebooks, Google Apps); 
The ability to provide a safe, positive and engaging learning environment for students; 
A positive approach to problem-solving, collaboration, teamwork, and respect
Preference will be given to candidates who are multilingual and have experience working with diverse student populations
