Wisconsin Virtual Learning is an online, noninstrumentality public charter school of the Northern Ozaukee School District. It serves students from K4 through 12th grade all over Wisconsin. Students attend school virtually, using a laptop provided by the school at home. Our Student Learning Advocate (SLA) position is crucial to our school's mission. Each family is assigned their own SLA, who becomes their primary contact at our school. The SLA collaborates with administration and staff to support WVL students academically and socially and strengthen relationships with families.
The SLA's responsibilities can include but are not limited to:
- Providing support and training a newly enrolled student and family with the learning management system
- Manage student schedules
- Troubleshoot student or family technical issues
- Monitor a student's progress
- Do weekly student check-ins
- Provide support and training for parents
- Participate in teacher team meetings
- Provide support for state testing
- Interview prospective students
WVL is looking for a candidate who:
- Holds a Bachelor's degree (preferable) or an Associate degree
- Preferred minimum of one year of experience working in a school setting with parents, teachers, and students
- Demonstrates highly effective oral and written communication skills
- Can establish relationships and work collaboratively with peers and instructional partners
- Can work with a variety of different student/learning management systems
- Can research and maintain records
- Demonstrates a high level of organization
- Possesses strong technology skills and a willingness to learn
The candidate should be prepared to work with online conferencing platforms and handle a "work from home" culture that allows work from remote locations. The candidate must be able to work in the school office at least twice a week. This job requires some travel, but nothing substantial or overnight.
