The Unified School District of Antigo is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Human Resources to manage the daily operations of the Human Resources department, focusing on recruitment, payroll, employee relations, and compliance with district, state, and federal employment policies. This role plays a crucial part in supporting staffing, onboarding, benefits administration, and professional development for teachers, administrators, and support staff.

Position Summary:
The Human Resources will handle a variety of tasks related to employee recruitment, record-keeping, benefits administration, and compliance. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive information discreetly.  Human Resources serves as the main point of contact for staff inquiries and ensures that all Human Resources processes are handled efficiently and in accordance with legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Recruitment, Selection, Onboarding, and Offboarding:

    • Post job vacancies on platforms such as WECAN and Handshake.

    • Coordinate interviews, review applications, and support hiring for teachers, administrators, and support staff.

    • Manage onboarding processes, including employment paperwork, background checks, certification verification, and updates to Skyward.

    • Assist with processing new hire and termination forms and managing associated records.

    • Lead creative recruitment efforts by organizing and attending job fairs, career events, and community outreach initiatives to attract top talent for the district

  2. Employee Relations:

    • Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries about HR policies, payroll, benefits, and procedures.

    • Address employee concerns and direct them to the appropriate personnel as needed.

    • Maintain positive working relationships with school staff by promptly addressing any issues.

  3. Payroll & Benefits Administration:

    • Assist in processing payroll documents, including salary changes.

    • Respond to employee questions about benefits and support the annual benefits enrollment process.

    • Coordinate leave requests, including FMLA, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and district policies.

  4. Record Keeping & Data Management:

    • Maintain employee records in Skyward, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

    • Process employment verification, maintain compliance with regulations (e.g., background checks, certifications), and prepare HR reports (e.g., Wisestaff).

    • Manage employee attendance, leave, and evaluations.

    • Process online teacher contracts and co-curricular contracts.

  5. Reporting & Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with district policies and state/federal employment regulations, including FMLA, FLSA, and EEOC.

    • Prepare and maintain reports for regulatory agencies such as the DPI (1202 WISE Staff), DSPS, and EEOC.

    • Assist in audits, policy creation, and handbook updates for both teachers and support staff.

  6. Worker’s Compensation:

    • Manage worker’s compensation claims, including intake, filing and tracking progress.

    • Facilitate return to work programs and coordinate with departments for accommodations or modified duty assignments.

    • Serve as a liaison between employees, and insurance carriers.

  7. Work Related Injuries:

    • Investigate and document work related injuries and incidents.

    • Conduct interviews with injured employees and witnesses to gather details about the incident.

    • Provide ongoing communication and support to injured employees during recovery and rehabilitation.

  8. OSHA Log Management:

    • Maintain and update OSHA 300, 300A and 301 logs accurately and in a timely manner.

    • Prepare and submit OSHA reports annually and as required.

  9. HR Operations:

    • Oversee the employee management module in Skyward, including personnel files and True Time clocking issues.

    • Manage the substitute roster, track leave requests, and ensure compliance with time-off policies using systems like Red Rover.

    • Support budget processes and assist with nonrenewal of staff or termination of at-will employees.

  10. Administrative Support:

    • Assist with special projects, including board reports, public meeting minutes, and records requests.

    • Prepare documents for litigation, open record requests, and support the Director of Business Services in HR-related matters.


Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 1-3 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in an educational or public-sector environment.

  • Proficiency with Human Resources software (e.g., Skyward), Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Suite.

  • Strong knowledge of state and federal employment regulations, including FMLA and EEOC compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a school district or public education setting.

  • Familiarity with teacher certification processes and DPI regulations.

  • Educational Administrative Licensure

  • Prior experience using Skyward for employee management and payroll tasks.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency with Human Resources software, Skyward and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
