Salem School District is looking for a compassionate and skilled Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team and help our students achieve their goals. Position Overview:

The Special Education Paraprofessional will work closely with teachers and other school staff to provide individualized and group support to students with diverse learning needs. This role involves working one-on-one with students, implementing instructional plans, and assisting with classroom management to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and instructional strategies for students with special needs.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students as directed by the teacher.
  • Help students with daily tasks, including academic assignments, organizational skills, and self-care.
  • Monitor and document student progress and behavior, providing feedback to the teacher and other staff members.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to address students' educational and behavioral needs.
  • Support students during transitions between activities and assist with any additional needs that arise throughout the school day.
  • Will need to obtain the Special Education Program Aide License through the WI Department of Instruction.
  • Previous experience working with children, particularly in an educational or special education setting, is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow direction from classroom teachers and other professionals.
  • Basic knowledge of special education practices and individualized instruction is a plus.
