The Shawano School District is seeking a Varsity Softball Head Coach starting in March 2025. This position is responsible for assisting in coaching and providing direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in the sport of softball.

SUMMARY: Responsible for leading the Varsity Softball program at Shawano Community High School. Provides the necessary practice, support, advice, and guidance for the Varsity Softball team and softball program. Conduct practices and instruct student athletes in game strategies and techniques. Strive to set an example of the highest ethical and moral conduct. Contribute to the purpose of the SCHS Athletic Program, including

  • Help students improve and develop their skills in the sport of softball.
  • Ensure that all participants make meaningful connections to others and develop a sense of connectedness.
  • Facilitate the growth of the participating students in moral and character skills.
  • Create an environment in which students have fun and create lasting memories.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS OF ASSIGNMENT: 

● Possess (or be willing to complete within the first year) all WIAA required coaching certifications. 

● Complete and pass a background check as conducted by the District 

● Provide verification of a physical examination and a negative TB test result prior to beginning employment with the District, as required by state statute. 

● Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic first aid training are required. 

● Drug testing and additional training may be required. 

● Knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport of softball. 

● Communication and leadership skills. 

● Ability to use independent judgment. 

● Ability to express drills and strategies clearly and concisely, in such a way as to reach students. 

● Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, other District employees and volunteers, opposing teams, and the public.

 

STIPEND FOR VOLUNTEER: $4070 nominal fee provided to Assignee in recognition of time dedicated to the District during the 2025 event season. 
VOLUNTEER HOURS: Hours vary based on schedule developed by volunteer; may include hours on evenings, weekends, and holidays. Average weekly position will be 25 hours.
