The Menasha Joint School District has an immediate opening for a full time special education paraprofessional to join our Bluejay Team at Menasha High School. Our Special Education Paraprofessionals work during the school year term for approx. 9 months beginning in mid August through the last week in May. This position will work with students at the high school level in our alternative/special education programs as assigned by the building principal. The work day is seven (7) hours per day (35 hours per week) beginning at 9:15 a.m. and concluding at 5:00 p.m. This position is benefit eligible. The screening and interviewing of applicants will begin immediately with the position available until filled by a quality applicant.
The job of Special Education Paraprofessional was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within assigned school with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision and instruction of special needs students; observing and documenting student progress; implementing plans for instruction; and assisting students by providing for special health care needs.
The Program Support Paraprofessional will hold certification by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as a Special Education Program Aide. In accordance with current federal legislation, all paraprofessionals providing instruction to students must be "highly qualified" when hired. Program support Paraprofessionals are assigned to specific special need children to assist the child/children in their educational program. Program Support Paraprofessionals may assist other children in the program to which their designate child is assigned, but their first priority is the special need child/children to which they are assigned. Program Support Paraprofessionals are often required to assist children with self-care and medical procedures. They are also often required to provide close behavioral monitoring of assigned students.
