SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONALS

 

LOCATION:                  High School

START DATE:              January 2025

HOURS:                        5.75 hours/day

SALARY RATE:           $18.85 per hour (new salary schedule - F-1)

 

CERTIFICATION:          Applicants must possess or apply for Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Special Education Program Aide license (883) upon hiring.  Human Resources will assist with this process.

 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:     We are accepting applications for paraprofessional applicants for the 24-25 school year.  We have 3 openings at the high school level.  Interviews will be held soon, so do not delay applying for the position.

 

Paras work under the direct supervision of a special education teacher.  The job duties of special education paraprofessionals vary depending on the disabilities and needs of the students.  This position involves supporting students in a variety of ways: helping students remain on-task, assisting in completing school assignments and learning tasks, supporting social activities, fostering positive student interactions and behaviors, grooming, and other supervisory duties. 

 

The qualifications for special education paraprofessional positions include:

·         A high school diploma or equivalent;

·         Experience and/or desire to work with students with disabilities and/or behavioral challenges;

·         Ability to work with individuals and small groups of students;

·         Ability to interact and work with students, staff, and community members in a positive manner; and

·         Possess basic computer skills and/or ability to learn.

·         A passion for working with high school aged students;

·         A positive attitude that will contribute to a welcoming atmosphere;

·         Strong communication skills;

·         Excellent attendance history in previous employment.

·         Upon hire, employee will be required to participate in the Paraprofessional Training Program.

 

Experience working with individuals having autism, mental health and/or developmental disabilities is a plus.
