Full Time
The River Ridge School District (RRSD) is seeking a full-time bookkeeper/business official effective immediately. This is a year round position that offers a competitive salary and benefits. The business official will provide a good fiscal management of district financial matters, including the annual school budget, investing and borrowing money, etc. The business official will need to be up-to-date on business processes, state and federal guidelines, and be able to work collaboratively with the District Administrator and other office personnel. Other responsibilites could include but are not limited to:
 
  • Responsible for the annual requests, budget procedures, negotiations, bidding, procurement, maintenance agreements, district liability and property insurance, and workers compensation insurance. 
  • In collaboration with the District Administrator, develop, implement, and oversee the district budget.
  • Develop all district financial reporting, monthly board financial reports, and annual financial reports required by DPI.
  • Assure all financial, membership, food service, and state/federal grant audits are conducted as required by the state and federal regulations.
  • Oversee accounting of all grants, including claims submissions.
  • Maintain debt service account.
  • Responsible for state reporting and other financial reports to DPI.
  • Maintain general ledger accounts, including balance sheets, revenues, and expenditures, for preparation of financial statements. 
  • Maintain a purchasing system that makes optimum use of district resources and updates the purchase order system with current encumbrances. 
  • Coordinate the district inventory and maintain fixed assets.
  • Work closely with the Food Service director and Director of Grounds.
  • Oversee the payroll and benefits system (payment of wages, health insurance, open enrollment, worker's compensation) that meets all federal, state, and local district requirements. 
  • Process and file W2's, 1095Cs, 1099's annual reports
  • Direct annual production, distribution, and payment set-up of wage documents (contracts, wage notices, letters of assurance) for the purpose of ensuring certificated staff are properly certified per state and federal regulations. 
  • Direct employee insurance programs (medical, dental, vision, voluntary short/long term disability) for the purpose of ensuring open enrollment, billing and claims, COBRA conversations are processed in a timely manner. 
  • Monitor department financial activity for the purposes of ensuring allocations are accurate, expenses are within budget and/or fiscal practices are followed. 
  • Assist with accounts payable/receivable.
1. Have experience in accounting, finance or related field. 
2. A minimum of three years of demonstrated professional experience in accounting / finance systems for an organization.
3. Knowledge of fund accounting methods and procedures, financial reporting procedures, and the management of complex financial transactions.
4. Ability to interpret and comply with federal, state, and district policies, procedures, and regulations.
5. Demonstrated skills in organizing ideas and presenting them in a variety of modalities (oral, written, presentation, etc.) with clarity and conciseness.
6. Demonstrated sound judgment, social compentency, adaptability, self-confidence, emotional maturity, inititiative, innovation, enthusiasm, and resourcefulness, collaborative problem-solving and team building abilities, strong organizational skills, and dedication to duty.
7. Demonstrated successful skills in: communication and/or collaboration with students, staff, parents, vendors, and members of the community; establishing and maintaining relationships based on mutual confidence, trust, and respect; ability to make decisions independently and/or lead group decision-making; identifying challenges and problems and their resolutions.
 
Compensation: Commensurate with education, skills and experience. 
 
About RRSD: River Ridge School District is a 4K - 12 public school district located in Southwest, Wisconsin. The District serves approximately 500 students and all of our buildings are located in one location in Patch Grove, Wisconsin. Come join our team!
