POSITION TITLE: District Marketing and Communications Specialist

SUMMARY: The District Marketing and Communications Specialist is assigned to the district office. The Marketing and Communications Specialist will coordinate with all buildings and departments throughout the district to manage and update the district website, Facebook, Instagram, and various other social media and news platforms.This position performs all branding, marketing, communications and public information duties. This position is responsible for the coordination of a comprehensive two-way communication process involving both internal and external publics, with the goal of stimulating a better understanding of the role, objectives, accomplishments and needs of the school district. A primary function of this position is to fulfill the district’s responsibility to inform the public how schools are performing and how they are allocating their resources and to seek their insight on helping the school district deliver high quality and efficient programs. This position is a 260 day contract with flexible hours to accommodate the needs to attend various events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management of the district's website, including, editing, updating, and ensuring all district branding is consistent on all pages.

Management of district website permissions and access.

Management of district social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

Management of district streaming platforms such as YouTube, Twitch, etc.
-
Promote student, staff, and community achievements.
-
Build relationships and communication with the community.
-
Coordination with vendors to set up meetings, events, etc.
-
Assist the District Administrator and BOE in assessing and interpreting public attitudes
-
Carry out involvement and information activities which earn public understanding and
support

Promote positive media relations and coverage
-
Develop a comprehensive communications plan for the district and assist other
administrators in communication efforts

Conduct formal and informal research to determine public opinion and attitude
-
Promote the district’s strengths/achievements, and its solutions to problems
-
Vigorously publicize student, faculty, and staff achievements
-
Attend all newsworthy school events. Be visible and approachable to all stakeholders.

Provide high quality, engaging photographs.
-
Generate in-depth articles for websites and Facebook.
-
Curator of content for a district quarterly newsletter.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:

Working knowledge of the principles of business/school, community/school, and school to work partnerships

Knowledge of computer software programs and a demonstrated ability to learn new programs as required.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Excellent problem-solving skills.

Design and produce attractive and professional print materials.

Exemplary customer service skills.

Flexibility and adaptability to meet the multiple demands of a busy office.

Previous experience in a public school environment preferred

Create district graphics to be used with signage, social media, and more.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform physical effort ranging from sedentary to light work, may involve occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of objects up to 50 lbs. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation as well as extended periods of standing, walking, or carrying objects.

Access to a vehicle and possession of a valid driver’s license.

Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, and limbs in performing skilled movements such as rapid keyboard or precise mouse use.

Ability to recognize and identify similarities or differences between characteristics of shapes, colors, sounds, and textures associated with job-related objects, materials and tasks.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 month position

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the School Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
