The Kidship Program is seeking applicants for an individual who would love to be part of an elementary school community working to positively impact students’ lives. Our program is designed to support students with high needs and great potential. We have a great school culture and spectacular students, and our staff has “big hearts” and works together as a strong team.

 

This position will require a knowledge base related to special education and serving students with social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs. Previous training related to Restorative Practices and Non-Violent allows you to support students while in the general education classrooms, supporting a variety of subjects, with a focus on building strong relationships with students. This position allows you to be an independent worker. This position will assist special education teachers in the classroom. It will also assist in classroom and material preparation in one-on-one and small-group situations. May be asked to assist other special education students. Someone with a positive outlook on life and a good sense of humor is essential. Other duties as assigned by the teacher or administrator.

1.     Minimum of two years of college (48 college credits), an associate degree, or successful completion of the SASD assessments.

2.     Hold a Wisconsin DPI Special Education Program Aide License or be certifiable.

3.     It may be required that you transport students using District vehicles. Must possess a valid State of Wisconsin Driver’s License and have a good driving record. Employment is contingent upon the SASD insurance carrier approving insurability due to past and future driving records.

4.     Experience with special needs students.

5.     Ability to work cooperatively in both regular education and special education team settings.

6.     Assist teacher in providing instruction to individual and groups of students, and supervising classroom activities for example: must be able to model correct language techniques, grammar, and articulation as well as correct reading miscues.

7.     Bus duty (riding the bus with students) is required. Must be able to supervise students on the bus.

8.     Must be able to assist students with physical needs (lifting, hygiene, etc.).

9.     Must be CPI-trained or willing to be trained.
