The East Troy Community School District is a great place to learn and a great place to work! We are looking to add to our amazing team of educators at ETCSD and this is an opportunity for a 1.0 School Psychologist, starting the 2024-25 school year. This position is located at East Troy Middle School. The successful candidate will possess strong background, knowledge, skills and attitudes that support learner empowerment through personalization by demonstrating the following:
Intervention Coordination
• Exceptional leadership skills to assist Building Consultation Team (BCT) and IEP teams in development and implementation of evidence-based instructional strategies to improve student classroom performance
• Extensive knowledge and abilities in designing and implementing data collection techniques to ensure fidelity of academic and behavioral interventions as part of IEP and BCT processes
• Comprehensive skills to facilitate and assist BCT and IEP teams in the interpretation of individual, district, and state assessment data to assist with intervention planning and implementation at the individual, group and district level
• Assist in the development, design and implementation of Positive Behavior Support Plans for individuals, small groups or classrooms
Consultation and Provision of Direct Services:
• Experience and skills in providing counseling and direct instruction with individuals and small groups of students requiring psychological services to improve social, emotional and/or behavioral functioning
• Experience and skills in providing individual consultation services and collaboration with parents, teachers, administrators, and community professionals to assist with home supports and programs to ensure environmental consistency, good mental health and school success for students
• Strong leadership skills to facilitate the design and delivery of curricula to assist students in the development of effective behaviors such as self-regulation, self-monitoring, planning/organization, empathy and healthy decision making
Special Education Responsibilities & Supervision:
• Assisting in supervision of special education teachers and teaching assistants
• Attending IEPs as the District LEA Representative at alternative placement schools, open enrollment schools and when deemed necessary by administration
• Monitoring legal compliance of evaluations and IEPs
• Assisting in the professional development of special education staff to ensure ongoing legal compliance and best practices
• Assisting in the processing of manifestation determinations and behavioral plans for students when needed
• Assisting special education staff in ensuring that accommodations for special education students are being met within regular education and special education environments
• Ongoing collaboration and communication with the Director of Pupil Services and building/district administration for continuous improvement efforts
• Assisting the Director of Pupil Services in departmental professional development and the professional development of regular education staff with respect to special education issues/concerns
• Serving as a first point of contact for parents when concerns are not being met directly by special education staff
Advanced Learner Coordinator Responsibilities - Secondary level (Additional Stipend):
• Participate as a district representative in the Southern Lakes Advanced Learners Network (SLALN)
• Coordinate opportunities for Advanced Learners
• Administer assessments as needed for the identification of gifted and talented pupils
• Create and maintained Advanced Learner Plans for middle school students who are identified as gifted and talented
Additional Skills:
• Ability to conduct psycho-educational assessments, using multiple methods and sources of data, as part of special education eligibility evaluations, early school entrance, grade retention, gifted and talented programming and assessments for Multilingual Learners.
• Flexibility and creativity to assist staff in creating district, school and classroom environments that support district mission, vision, values and goals.
• Strong background and skills in legal implications special education law and Section 504 to Director of Pupil Services in monitoring IEP/504 team compliance including for initial evaluations, reevaluations, and other IEP/504 meetings as they arise.
• Interest and skills to actively serve on building level Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Teams
• Ability to assist and consult with school staff to meet mandated reporting requirements.
• Commitment to professional growth and development in order to meet student needs through active participation to achieve personal and professional goals as well as ability to facilitate growth activities for other district staff of current evidence based practices for student success.
• Strong organizational and written language skills in order to effectively communicate with parents, students and staff and create quality evaluation documents in a timely fashion.
• Adhere to the highest professional ethical standards.
