JOB SUMMARY: Palmyra-Eagle Montessori is seeking Substitute Infant/Toddler Teacher Assistants for students ages 6 weeks to 3 years on an as needed basis. The number of hours can vary based upon need. The Substitute Infant/Toddler Teacher Assistant will assist in implementing the daily schedule and happenings based on substitute notes provided by the Lead Teacher. Work is performed under the supervision of the Program Director.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified candidates will have experience or education in Early Childhood and/or Montessori philosophy. Meeting the standards for a Teacher or Assistant Teacher according to the Wisconsin DCF Rule 251. Having or obtaining a current and accessible WI Registry file is helpful. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic and passionate about early childhood education and the Montessori philosophy, with strong classroom management skills, an understanding of child development, and the ability to work as a team. Must pass a criminal background check.
 
Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:
Physical requirements include the ability to sit on the floor with students, squat down to a child’s eye level, kneel, and lift and carry up to 30 pounds
Communicate effectively and consistently with students and colleagues regarding student progress and needs.
Interacts in a respectful and caring manner with the children by actively participating in their play and learning.
Supervises the children in the classroom, playground, and during other planned activities.
Ensures that all state and local requirements are met for the supervision of the children.
Ultimately assist in creating and modeling a classroom environment and culture that aligns with the school’s vision
 
Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:
Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds
Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, and state
Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
Ability to establish and maintain cooperate, collaborative and effective working relationships with others
