Job Summary:

The Engagement Specialist will be the primary point of contact for prospective families and students in the Green Bay area. The person serves as a dynamic and results-driven team player on the DCAConnect team. This role serves as the bridge between the Green Bay community and our larger, statewide, online school community. The Engagement Specialist will directly connect with Green Bay area students and families to ensure access to quality educational experiences along with the necessary supports to be successful.  This role must exhibit a strong commitment and desire to empower families to increase their voice and choice within their student’s education. The Engagement Specialist will facilitate engagement in school activities, and provide clear and consistent communication regarding school expectations and activities from the enrollment process through graduation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

·       Works on-site at DCAConnect-Green Bay and/or within the community up to 5 days per week

·       Works closely with Site Coordinator/Assistant Principal/Principal and other stakeholders to provide engagement, curricular, and recruitment opportunities for students

·       Acts as a liaison between community-based organizations and DCA/WVA leadership to advocate for the best possible experiences and outcomes for students

·       Collaboratively leads, develops, and refines educational and engagement opportunities for students

·       Acts as a connector of students and families to resources within DCA, DCAConnect, and/or the community, as needed

·       Oversees the Onboarding and Offboarding of students

·       Oversees a caseload of students assigned as the primary point of contact with the school

·       Monitors student participation and works to contact students who do not attend

·       Arranges support conferences as needed to address performance concerns; working to develop Student Support plans

·       Provides a reactive response to students who reach out for support

·       Serves as a liaison between the student, Learning Coach and teachers to ensure that all school personnel understand how to contact and communicate with the student in a manner that builds ties between the student and the school

·       Provides individualized attention and support to students and Learning Coaches identified for training gaps or requested networking within the school community

·       Serves as a point of contact for all non-instructional issues after placement, ensuring students have all necessary equipment and know both how and when to access their courses

·       Oversees weekly office hours/help sessions to support new families through the Strong Start process

·       Identifies school programs, resources, assistance to help each family make the most of what the schools have to offer

 

Notice:

       This is a year-round position with the following time off:  20 days Discretionary Leave , Spring Break, Winter Break, Thanksgiving Break, Federal Holidays as Prescribed.

       This is not a position of the McFarland School District and does not have district benefits, including, but not limited to Wisconsin Retirement System eligibility

       This position does have healthcare, vision, dental, 401K, & bonuses

       This is a hybrid position:  partial on-site work and partial work-from-home position, with some additional required travel

       Computer, printer, phone and internet stipend ($50) provided

Minimum Training and Experience:

·       Two (2) years of college AND

·       Two (2) years of experience in education OR

·       Equivalent combination of education and related experience

Desired Training and Experience:

·       Experience working with high school students

·       Experience in social work or supporting families within the Green Bay greater community

·       Experience supporting adults and children in learning and the use of technology

·       An ability to learn new technology tools quickly (e.g. database and web-based tools)

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

        Strong written and verbal communication skills

        Excellent problem-solving skills

        Organizations skills, multi-tasking abilities

        Customer service focus

        Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced work environment

        Successful experience in working with student and families

        Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents/guardians, business, and community members

        Ability to work independently and to manage work assignments with minimum supervision

        Ability to meet schedules and deadlines in a timely manner.

        Oral and written communication skills needed to relate effectively to students, families, teachers, administrators, and community partners

        Computer application skills, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet.
